Mobile number portability (MNP) is a service that allows a cellphone or smartphone customer to change telecom carrier and keep the same phone number. MNP service is very useful because often we want to switch between operators without changing our primary number as overall we want better service provider so. Nowadays MNP can be done just by sitting at home.
How to port the existing number to Jio?
- To port in, SMS PORT <10-digit mobile number> to 1900 from your existing number which needs to be ported to Jio.
- You will get an SMS that will contain the UPC code and its expiry date.
- Walk into the nearest Jio Store or Jio Retailer with the UPC (Unique porting code).
- Carry your original Aadhaar card or original Proof of Address(POA) / Proof of Identity(POI) documents to place an MNP request.

> Clear all your pending dues with the current operator (if you have a post-paid mobile connection).
> As per government regulations; if you are porting in within the same telecom circle, the number will be activated within 3 working days after successful validation. For porting into another telecom circle, it will take up to 5 working days. Your services will not be interrupted in the intervening period.
> Port in requests from Jammu & Kashmir, Assam & North East customers will be processed within 15 working days. Your services will not be interrupted in the intervening period.
Jio MNP Plans, What should be the amount on the first recharge after MNP to Jio?
One can choose from a variety of different Jio recharge MNP plans to have different price ranges and offers. To get Jio recharge done, the user has to put in the Jio mobile number they want to carry out the recharge for, select one between prepaid and postpaid, select Jio mobile operator, and the circle to which the user belongs. Now the user has to select the MNP plan or enter the recharge amount manually.
After MNP to Jio, You have to recharge your Jio Number by any Jio plan+prime membership.
For eg., If you want to recharge your Jio number for 28 days then you have to recharge with 199+99=Rs.298. And this recharge is available online as well as by the operator. You can also choose the recharge amount at the time of porting, Jio executive will guide you about the plans also with some offers. It is recommended to do the first recharge at the time of porting rather than doing it by own after porting.
